Fresh Eggs A specialty of Birds Haven Farms is Ann’s Hen House. Ann raises a variety of chickens. These various breeds produce beautiful eggs with shells of differing soft natural hues -ranging from white, blue, green (great with ham!), brown, and tan - and wonderful fresh taste. At her peak, a hen can lay up to one egg a day. Birds Haven Farms keeps a census of approximately 150 hens, so our supply of eggs is limited. (For those of tender heart, know that BHF chickens never end up in the stew pot; Ann continues tending to each hen after their laying days are over and at the end of a very pampered life they die of old age.) You can call Ann and order ahead, or come early to our Farmers’ Markets to purchase the final supply.
